WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF
RE-DESIGNING OUR SITE TO BETTER SERVE THE PUBLIC. WE ASK FOR YOUR PATIENCE
DURING THIS PROCESS.
Created
in 1994, The Safe Haven Project, a non-profit domestic and international
outreach organization is dedicated to confronting the need for education,
advocacy and compassion for children and teenagers living with HIV/AIDS.
During
its sixteen years of service, Safe Haven has created multi-faceted programs
that focus on self- empowerment through artistic expression, leadership
development, compassionate care, vocational training and philanthropy for
those living with HIV/AIDS and those who desire to serve people living with
HIV/AIDS.
Domestic
Programs:
One
of the Safe Haven Project, Inc’s signature programs is CAMP SAFE HAVEN – an annual
retreat style camp that offers an entertaining, enlightening and empowering week-long
experience for 9 – 17 year olds living with HIV/AIDS on Martha’s Vineyard, MA
(each April) and in Arden, NC (each August). In addition, The Safe Haven Project, Inc. is opening a third camp in Ohio in 2011.
International Programs:
Safe Haven has provided educational and financial opportunities to villages throughout Ghana, West Africa for the past five years. And its international outreach to children and their families in need is expanding to East Sussex, England and will begin operations in 2011.
The
Safe Haven Project, Inc. will continue to provide HIV/AIDS education/prevention
programs, vocational training and leadership development in Ghana, West
Africa.
This
program, entitled LEARN & SERVE, is entering its 6th year. The LEARN & SERVE program gives teens and
young adults who desire a career in public health, public service, civil
service, public office or policy making any opportunity to serve some of
the most marginalized and disenfranchised members of our society. The guiding principle of the LEARN
& SERVE program is that “each of us has a responsibility to care for
those who are less fortunate.”
